Helpful Support: The Universal Accessory Bracket

BracketKaiser is now offering their universal accessory bracket - previously only available as a companion to the "camlight Nova" video light - as an individual product. It is extemely useful for attaching a variety of accessories to both still cameras and camcorders.

Over the years, hot shoes (or 'accessory shoes') on cameras have become a universal inter-face for accessories e.g. flashguns, videolights, levels, flash triggers, GPS loggers, microphones, clip-on viewfinders etc. However, if the hot shoe is already occupied, if the camera has no shoe, or if the manufacturer has fitted a proprietary shoe - instead of one meeting the ISO standard - another solution is needed. The Kaiser Universal Accessory bracket could be that solution.

It was originally designed for attaching small videolights to camcorders, as many do not have an accessory shoe, and the small size of the modern models, the introduction of Zubehörschiene Zubehörschiene a foldable LCD screen on one side, and the varying position of the tripod thread, meant that a very flexible design was required.

The Kaiser bracket meets these needs by using a two-part configuration. A fixed angle bracket with an accessory shoe and a flat bracket with a tripod screw (together with a removable anti-twist device) can be combined in various configurations to meet virtually all requirements. The Kaiser bracket allows the accessory to be positioned to the left or right of the camera, aligned with the optical axis, and where it gives the minimum interference with the handling of the Zubehörschiene camera.

The Kaiser bracket is equally useful with still cameras especially D-SLR and mirror-less inter-changeable lens cameras. The Kaiser bracket has an additional tripod thread and anti-twist protection housed in the angle bracket.

Zigview S2 Live: Amended Equipment

So far Canon 5D MK II owners had to use their original Canon AV cable to connect the electronic view finder to their camera. This was not so handy as the cable is rather long. Future shipments of the Zigview S2 Live will therefor include a short AV cable for the 5D MK II plus a short regular AV cable with 3,5 mm jack plug.

Converting Zigview S2? (Almost) anything is possible!

The Zigview S2 digital viewfinder is by now available in two basic versions: for docking to the eyepiece of the camera and - as the "live" version - for connection to the AV/Video outlet of digital "Live View" SLRs.

We are recently getting more and more requests from photographers about "migration capabilities" of their Zigview S2, either because they have switched to another camera or they want to use their Zigview on several different SLR cameras. This is why we will give you a short overview what can be done and what you will need to convert your Zigview S2. The most asked question is: Can I use my Zigview S2 with a Live View DSLR and how can I connect it to the camera's video port? This can easily be achieved by using the LVC cable, that enables the connection between the Zigview LCD and the video out and remote control terminal of the camera. In addition to the LVC cable you will need other cables you own already because they were included in the Zigview S2 bundle. For instructions how to connect the unit, please click here.

Zigview S2 Live can also be converted into an "eyepiece" version. There are several reasons why that may be preferred: either you do not want to shoot using live view, but you need to use Zigview, or Zigview S2 Live should be connected to a DSLR without live view. For these applications Zigview S2 Live can be equipped with a sensor head.

As you might know there are three models of the Zigview "eyepiece" version, depending on the size of the eyepiece image. So there are also three versions of the sensor head. Please check the compatibility list to find out about the correlation of sensor head versions and camera models. The sensor head includes additional accessory parts like eyepiece adapters or release cables if necessary.
