Kaiser Fototechnik has just introduced Action Level Cross, a digital level for simultaneous two-directional control of the camera’s exact alignment, that works equally well in landscape or portrait position. This is especially useful when shooting panoramic, landscape and architecture, with copy work and when shooting video with a digital camera.
Two crossing lines of LEDs in different colors mark the significant appearance of Action Level Cross. They indicate precisely, if the camera is tilted to the left or right and forward or backward when shooting landscape for example. An additional side level LED indicator always shows the horizontal deviation in landscape and portrait camera position.
The LEDs – red indicates high deviation, yellow minor deviation and green exact level – can be adjusted in brightness and tilting sensitivity. Action Level Cross comes with a factory-set zero point calibration, but can also be calibrated individually if necessary after placing it in the respective camera’s accessory shoe.
The power, sourced from a 3 volt battery supplied with the unit, is automatically cut off, if there is no movement for 20 minutes.
In cases where the camera is in an unfavourable position making it difficult to read the LEDs, a second unit or an optional remote display can be connected via cable.
Action Level Cross is only 32 mm (1.3 in) in diameter and weighs 6 grams. It comes with a strap, a carrying pouch and an extra magnetic base.
